Hi, I’m Phil Adams, DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), owner and principal driving instructor at Ministry of Driving. I provide calm, friendly, and professional manual driving lessons across Eastbourne, Hailsham, Pevensey, Hampden Park, Polegate, and the surrounding East Sussex areas.

Every lesson is tailored around you. Whether you’re eager to get started or feeling a bit anxious about getting behind the wheel, we’ll take things entirely at a pace you’re comfortable with. With clear, patient instruction and plenty of reassurance, my focus is on building genuine confidence — never pressure.

With many years of experience, a fully qualified mechanical background, and a deep understanding of vehicle control, I combine proven teaching methods with real-world local road experience. Together, we’ll build safe, lifelong driving habits that extend well beyond passing your driving test.

Student Reviews

I cannot recommend Phil from Ministry of Driving highly enough! My son, who is autistic, has achieved things my wife and I didn’t think were possible thanks to Phil’s incredible patience, understanding, and skill as a teacher. From day one Phil took the time to understand my son’s needs, explaining everything in a calm, clear way and never rushing the process. Driving lessons can be daunting for any learner, but Phil created a safe, supportive environment where my son felt comfortable and confident. He adapted lessons to suit his learning style, celebrated his progress, and built up his self-belief step by step. This wasn’t just about learning to drive—it was about gaining independence, and we are so grateful for the care, empathy, and professionalism shown throughout. If you’re looking for a driving instructor who genuinely goes the extra mile, Ministry of Driving is the one to choose.

Currently learning to drive with Phil. I couldn’t thank him enough for how patient and thorough he is with his teaching. I can tell how dedicated he is as he always remembers little details from past lessons which is very helpful. Would highly recommend him to students looking to learn to drive.
